Hi friends.
I said on here not long ago that I felt bad posting on a Friday. Well, I’m over that. TGIF. We made it to the end of another (work) week. As I said last week, this platform is allowing me to let go of expectations and lean into “the rest is still unwritten-core,” which is a new lifestyle I am attempting to live. The main goal of living an unwritten-core lifestyle is to become OK with not knowing what comes next, and this includes shedding your once perfectionist type-A personality that made you feel guilty for making subscribers of your newsletter wait until Friday for a new share.
It also means that when you take a long weekend getaway to the desert and you come home with chapped lips, a nose that feels like sandpaper inside, and a lingering headache that just won’t fully leave you, you are allowed to succumb to your creative drought and get a little assistance.
I was trying to figure out what to overshare this week, and I kept feeling stuck. Maybe it’s a bit of a post-vacation comedown, or maybe it’s just attempting to stay sane in a rotting world. I remembered that back when I started this thing, I had asked you guys what you wanted me to overshare on here. I went back to your answers to see if anything in there moved me, and indeed, the spirit moved me. Sometimes a prompt is necessary because the rest is literally … still unwritten. (This bit is probably going to last for a while, so get used to it.)
Today’s topic comes to you from a suggestion by Thandi. Thank you, Thandi, for helping me get out of the quick sand of my own mind this week! This is something I often want to discuss, but I never quite know where to start.
